Wishing your healthy, brisk and prosperous future, I am pleased to invite you to GAS KOREA 2006, the 5th International Gas Exhibition in Seoul to be held from 29 March 2006 in the capital city of Korea.

Having been held in every 2 years, GAS KOREA is not a mere event for product display but a feast of the whole gas industry. It accommodates a very specialized exhibition to help the gas industry meet challenges and seek a new market in the 21st century.

By hosting the 4 exhibitions so far, Korea Gas Newspaper has played a pivotal role in promoting nationwide interest and understanding of gas safety and relevant industry by publicizing latent capabilities and sophisticated technology to the world.

As the exhibition gets older, more and more business talks and purchase contracts have been made during the event and are acting as catalysts for breaking new ground in the global market. It also has provided a good arena for exchanging and sharing substantial knowledge and experience obtained in R & D and market development.

Based on the experience and knowhow accumulated by hosting 4 times of the event, the Organizing Committee of GAS KOREA, centering on the Korea Gas Newspaper, believes that the Exhibition in 2006 will be another success. In this context, we are doing diversified activities to publicize GAS KOREA 2006 and to attract buyers.

The city gas industry in Korea has made a remarkable growth to secure more than 10 million consumers in a comparably short period of 20 years that the similar case can be hardly found even in the history of the world gas industry.

Such an unprecedented development of the Korean city gas industry, despite short history, would have been impossible without the nationwide interest in a cleaner fuel, government's support by policy and the arduous efforts made by the employees of the whole city gas industry.

With the recent radical change of environment surrounding the energy industry owing to the surge of international oil prices, the effectuation of the Kyoto Agenda, etc., the importance of city gas as an environment-friendly source of energy is ever growing.

In this context, the city gas industry should make another success in the development of its image as a convenient, safe and reliable source of energy as well as the creation of added-values by grafting some innovations made in the IT, NT and other various new technologies.

In line with this, the hosting of an international gas exhibition in Korea to introduce the state-of-the-art gas technologies and papers is very significant and relevant to cope with the ever-changing environment.

The exhibition 'GAS KOREA' has played a very important role since its establishment in 1997 as a place of information exchange among the participants from all over the world.

I sincerely wish that more participants come from around the world and upgraded modern gas equipment and advanced gas systems are exhibited in the GAS KOREA 2006 to be held in March next year.

During the last 30 years, the Korean gas industry has made a great deal of progress with the establishment of solid basis for growth coupled with the development of technology and strengthened competitiveness in quality.

Based on the accumulated technical know-how and excellent quality of products, domestic gas appliances industry is now expanding exports to all corners of the world. In line with this, Korean gas appliances manufacturers have been investing much to make the excellence of their products to the world through active participation in major world exhibitions and trade shows.

As a very unique and specialized international gas exhibition, the biennial ?GAS KOREA? has gained reputation with age from domestic and foreign gas industries. Undoubtedly, ?GAS KOREA? also has played a vital role in providing the world gas industry with an arena of displaying gas related appliances and new technologies as well as a very good opportunity of exchanging and sharing their knowledge and experience. In the ?GAS KOREA 2004?, 82 companies from 9 different countries took part in the exhibition and remarkable contracts were made during business marketing.

I have been informed from the Organization Committee of the ?GAS KOREA? that variety of amusements as well as more convenient and improved services are waiting for the foreign visitors for the exhibition in 2006. I am really expecting much from the upcoming event in a sense that it has been improving in content and scale year by year.

Now I cordially hope that every gas company in the world will put its product on GAS KOREA 2006 to be held in Seoul, Korea and seize the opportunity not only to upgrade the image and competitiveness of its products but also to strengthen ties with the Korean gas industry.
